How You Can Do Your Part In Post-Typhoon Maring Relief

Typhoon MaringIn the wake of the recent spate of floods in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Maring (Trami), numerous schools, organizations and agencies have stepped up to the plate to aid our affected countrymen.

To find out how you can contribute to the nationwide relief effort, you can start by tracking the #reliefph hashtag on Twitter. Donations of food and other supplies may be coursed through the Philippine Red Cross. Visit http://www.redcross.org.ph for more info.

Donations and volunteer efforts may also be carried out through the Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD). Visit the office of the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) on NAIA Chapel Road, Pasay City. Call 851-2681 or 511-1259.

Here’s a sampling of much-needed supplies one may donate to the relief effort:

Rice
Bottled water
Canned goods
Biscuits, crackers and/or snacks
Instant noodles
Sugar
Milk
Coffee
Salt
Cooking oil
Wearable clothes
Baby diapers
Medicine – Vitamin C, Paracetamol, etc.
Rubbing alcohol, band-aids, gauze and other first-aid supplies
Laundry soap
Toiletries: soap, shampoo, toothpaste & toothbrush, sanitary napkins
Flashlights & batteries
Blankets, pillows, mats, tarps

Other organizations contributing to the relief effort include the Ayala Foundation, GMA Network and ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya.
